Walking in the history of the Dolomites

On 23 August 2016 an event not to be missed tour for all day: Walking in the mountains: the Great War on the ridges of Cima Tognola, in the Dolomites. The Peaks of the Lagorai chain that between 1915 and 1918 were the place of bloody and fierce battles between the Italian and Austrian forces. An Italian front is dislocated on the ridges of the Cima Tognola, from San Martino di Castrozza down to the valley of the Vanoi, higher up on the tops of the Lagorai, the Peaks of Ceremana, the Colbricon and Cima Cece instead were the Austrian troops.
They are still visible on the ridges of the Cima Tognola trenches, tunnels and fortifications dating back to the years of the Great War. An old mule track from Malga Tognola reach Peak, rising gently between small lakes now dried up and the rhododendrons, up to the ridge and the earliest fortifications.
The old path and the route is marked by warning signs to indicate the presence of a historical importance trace.
